So the dark, cold Autumn nights are in full swing. I’m literally sitting here wearing a onesie and drinking hot chocolate (Green & Blacks, whipped cream and mini marshmallows – the ultimate combination) – Summer is well and truly over! My makeup doesn’t really change that dramatically from season to season but my skincare definitely does. As temperatures begin to drop and bitter winds start to pick up (remember I live in Scotland so I mean bitter) here are a few of my favourite moisturising products to help fight against chapped, red, patchy dried out skin.
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E (£3.99/250 ml)
This is my all time favourite moisturising body lotion, I use this all year round. Not only does it smell incredible (it reminds me of vanilla and chocolate) but it also provides 24 hour moisture, is incredibly fast absorbing and leaves even the driest skin feeling beautifully soft and smooth. The rich and creamy cocoa butter formula creates a protective barrier that locks in moisture providing deep hydration all day long without leaving a sticky or greasy residue. Not only is this product great for re-hydrating wind-beaten skin but it also soothes skin after shaving and waxing, tackles dry cracked heels and helps to soften rough patches on elbows and knees.
Cocoa Butter Vaseline Lip Therapy (£1/20g)
These infamous petroleum jelly based lip balms have been repackaged time and time again but always remain a firm favourite for beauty lovers around the world. I’ve bought countless tins of these little beauties throughout the years. This lip balm is infused, once again, with caring, nourishing cocoa butter that leaves lips feeling soft and smooth without irritation. The petroleum jelly creates a barrier to the outside elements sealing in moisture improving hydration. This cocoa butter version along with my trusty tub of cherrylicious Carmex balm, are two of my favourite lip treatments for the colder autumn/winter months.
Elemis Maximum Moisture Day Cream (£38/50ml)
This luxurious but lightweight day cream adjusts to the skin’s individual needs. It hydrates dry areas like my forehead, cheeks and under eye area and balances out oily areas such as my chin and nose area to help prevent breakouts. Only a small amount of this moisturiser is needed so this product will last you a long time meaning it’s well worth is price tag.
Nuxe Masque Creme Fraiche de Beaute (£19.50/50ml)
This 10 minute hydration mask is a pure delight to the skin. It’s not overly scented, it doesn’t ‘self-heat’ or peel off but this face mask soothes and calms in a natural, delicate way. It leaves skin soft, pampered and re-hydrated, a fab product to use as a weekly treat to freshen up tired and stressed out skin. I received this in my October Pop Art Glossy Box and have been a fan ever since!
And there you have it, my skincare routine for banishing weather-beaten dried-out skin this season. All you need now is to cosy up with a huge mug of hot chocolate and a Yankee Candle glowing by the fireplace and enjoy your stress-free perfectly moisturised Autumn the way it was intended!
