I love a bargain and I love Ciate London so I couldn’t resist treating myself to the Mini Mani Manor Christmas Calendar 2014 reduced from £49 to just £14.50. Although I was a big fan of the beauty advent calendar this year, some were a little excessively priced for my liking. I’m STILL making my way through all my goodies from my Boots No7 25 Days of Beauty Treats calendar. Waking up to a new skincare or makeup treat was definitely one of my favourite festive treats this year, especially when I start work at 7.30 am – you need a little happy in your morning to brighten up your day! I intended on using this as a countdown to my birthday, but I got a little carried away and opened it all on the same day it arrived – oopsie. So let’s see what’s inside…
The calendar opens into three sections displaying different rooms of the ‘fairy tale’ style manor in pastel shades with gold lettering. The calendar contains 23 x 5ml mini paint pots and effects, 1 set of festive transfers and 1 x 13.ml full sized secret shade hidden behind beautifully decorated doors with quotations inside. The collection of shades varies from gorgeously deep shimmering blacks such a Velvet Tuxedo and soft pretty pinks like Amazing Graze, which reminds me of Essie’s Ballet Slippers. The set also contains ‘effects’ which I’m excited to try out even after my disastrous attempts with Ciate’s caviar beads. The Girl With a Pearl’s delicate little pearls look intriguing as do the Fairisle transfers – I don’t think I’ve used a nail transfer since I was about 12, but I’ll give it ago!
Top row from left – tinsel trail, mineral clarity, silhouette & velvet tuxedo
Centre – celestial
Bottom row from left – slumber party, frozen daydream, unrestricted glam & girl with a pearl
Top row from left – prima ballerina, cupcake queen, strawberry milkshake, sherbet fizz, amazing graze, & sloaney, sweetie
Bottom row from left – candy cane, runway ribbon, members only, headliner, sand dune, big yellow taxi
I’ve obviously not had enough time to try every shade yet but so far velvet tuxedo and headliner are my favourites. I love the wide variety of colours in the calendar, some I admit I wouldn’t think to buy but have been really impressed with. The nail varnishes I received in my Ciate London Big Red Bus were of such high quality as they were highly pigmented, glossy and long lasting, I can’t wait to see how these compare! Stay tuned for my favourite looks, shades and perhaps, although fingers crossed there’s none, disappointments in upcoming posts.
