Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

I was lucky enough to receive some Debenhams vouchers for my birthday and I used them to buy Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup in 1N2. I know it was a little indulgent of me (£29.50/30ml) but everyone deserves a treat now and again don’t they?

I’ve been looking for a foundation that lasts all day and doesn’t wear off or dissolve entirely. I’m also quite pale so avoiding the dreaded orange mask look was obviously a must too. Foundation is something I wear every day and get a lot of use out of so I don’t mind paying that little bit extra if the products right for me. I’ve tried many foundations in the past with Clinique’s Stay Matte Make-up being my favourite, however, I needed something with a bit more staying power and coverage. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Double Wear, it’s the UK’s 1# foundation after all and considered a cult classic.

I was really impressed with the skin matching service from the Estee Lauder counter. Staff were friendly, helpful and not at all intimidating and they even gave me a few free samples of their Day Wear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Creme to try.

When they say long lasting – they mean it! I’m so happy to write that my skin stayed flawless all day WITHOUT the use of a primer! I am seriously impressed with its staying power. It claims to do this in even high humidity so I can’t wait to take this to Florida with me in the Summer, as last time I travelled to the sunshine state my makeup literally made a puddle on the floor as soon as my flight touched down. For such a long lasting product it is surprisingly light weight, buildable and easy to blend, not cakey and thick. I applied my foundation easily with my Real Techniques Foundation Brush.

Sorry, I didn’t want to terrify you with a before shot, believe me, no one needs to see that! The foundation is also fragrance-free and oil free. My only criticism is the bottle, you simply pour it out and for someone as clumsy and ditsy as I am I definitely recommend pouring slowly and for god sake make sure the lid is on properly when it’s in your handbag (I know this from experience)  – you don’t want to waste any of this little miracle worker!

This is without a doubt the best foundation I have tried and I can see why it’s a worldwide bestseller! Double Wear is lightweight, buildable and remarkably long-lasting. Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup (SPF 10) retails for £29.50 and is available from
