So I was a little intrigued by this month’s box as I knew Birchbox was collaborating with homeware store Habitat. I was unsure how this partnership would be reflected in the goodies inside. Now I have received my box… well, I’m still a bit confused! The theme is ‘Do Try This at Home’, the literature reads “your house is a temple, so why not make it – and yourself, look fabulous”, a 20% off Habitat promo code is also included. Okay I thought I knew where they were going with this and I started to get excited… then I saw this month’s samples.
This month you had the choice to pick your own Benefit mascara sample from Roller Lash, They’re Real & Badgal Lash. I already have two samples of Roller Lash that I collected from last month’s copy of ELLE and a full bottle of They’re Real from Christmas so I decided to go with the blast from my past Badgal Lash – the very first ever mascara I bought as a teenager! My box also contained a sample of Catherine Malandrino’s Style de Paris Eau De Parfum, a very sophisticated sexy little scent that I’ll happily be wearing this month. A 20ml tube of Philip Kingsley Elasticizer was also included. This super intensive pre-shampoo treatment for all hair types promises to restore suppleness and bounce to tangled tresses. I also received a generous bag of Serenity Skincare Dead Sea Bath Salts, TanOrganic Self Tanning Oil and a tiny little notebook (the Habitat connection?) and a free chapter from Penny Vincenzi’s new novel ‘A Perfect Heritage’.
I’m really disappointed by this month’s Birchbox. Perhaps it’s down to the fact my You Beauty Discovery box was so out of this world this month. The partnership with Habitat seemed totally contrived and the selection of samples I received was really poor. I love the exclusive box design and my Benefit mascara, but that’s about it. I am however super excited about a little card that hinted at a Laura Mercier sample in April’s box – I hope this isn’t an April fools otherwise My Little Box might tempt me away…
What was the highlight of your Birchbox this month?
I know samples can vary, did you receive anything different you’d like to share?
