Last weekend I went to TK Maxx in search of the Karl Lagerfeld or Diane Von Fustenburg Comic Relief t-shirts I had seen modeled by the lovely Lily Allen. TK Maxx isn’t usually a shop I go into as it’s mismatched clothes rails give me a headache and I can never find anything decent in my size. I didn’t realise however that they also sell beauty products. I had to do a little digging around their display but I found some beautiful shades of Ciate, Nail Inc, Jessica and Illamasqua nail polishes all hugely discounted! I picked up this little bottle of Jessica Custom Nail Colour in Action! reduced from £10.99 to £2.99.
Jessica Nails was created by their now CEO Jessica Vartoughian, who opened the first ever nails-only salon in 1969 in Beverly Hills. After her salons success she launched the Jessica Cosmetics line which now contains over 230 custom colours and various treatments such as the GELeration Soak-Off Gel System and Zen Spa Pedicure.
This is the first time I’ve tried a Jessica Nails product. I think Action! has now been discontinued as I really struggled to find where else it was available to compare prices. Regardless, I love this ruby red with slight coral undertones shade. It looks very similar to Bright Lights which can be found online at John Lewis. Like always I applied my OPI Start to Finish (£14.50) as a base coat and then again as a top coat to avoid staining and preserve the colour for as long as possible. The colour was highly pigmented and glossy, I gave my nails two coats which went on smoothly leaving no streaks and an even coverage. The formula was quick drying, which is always a plus for me as I have really little patience and have been known to smudge my nails mere seconds after application. I also found Action! to be incredibly long lasting. On day 5 my tips were a little chipped so I just tidied these up a bit and carried on until the end of the week.
I’ll definitely be visiting TK Maxx online and in store more regularly as they also sell some discounted bareMinerals, Emma Hardie, Bliss, Elizabeth Arden, Leighton Denny and Philosophy products!
Have you tried the Jessica Custom Colour range recently? I’d love to know your thoughts!
