My favourite budget beauty box arrived at my door Saturday morning and I couldn’t wait to share with you all the goodies inside! Last month’s amazing box celebrated the 2015 CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women) Awards and included brands such as Too Faced, Dr Organics and La Roche-Posay. If you’re a newbie to the YBD monthly subscription beauty box, here’s the basics; on the 1st of every month you select 2 products from a shortlist available online (you have to act fast as some have a limited availability), you receive these two samples plus a selection of extra treats – all for the amazing price of only £6.95.
This month’s shortlist included:
Yin Yang Skincare PH-Amino Gold Defence Lotion (10ml)
Xen-Tan Luminous Gold Gel (30ml)
Sanctuary Spa Body Butter (50ml)
Nude Skincare Progenius Omega Treatment Oil (5ml)
Inika Certified Organic Pure Primer (10ml)
Exuviance Triple Microdermabrasion Face Polish (10g)
Crown C436 Mini Duo Fibre Blender Brush (full size)
Calvin Klein Delicious Luxury Creme Lipstick (3.5g)
Amie Skincare Purifying Facial Wash & Matte-Finish moisturiser Duo (10ml each)
So I wasn’t as impressed with June’s shortlist as much I was May’s. I always get up at 7am on the 1st and wait patiently for the shortlist to go live, constantly hitting refresh and excited with anticipation. I usually know instantly which brands and products I want but this month it took me a little longer to come to my decision. I finally decided on the C436 Duo Fibre Brush from Crown (even though I need another makeup brush like I need a hole in the head) and the Inika Certified Organic Pure Primer (literally because I just ran out of Porefessional last week and can’t afford another tube), although I have to admit, I was really tempted by the Calvin Klein lipstick.
This full-sized Crown C436 Mini Duo Fibre Blender Brush is worth £7.39. I’ve been wanting to try Crown for a while now as I’ve noticed one of my favourite YouTubers, Em from My Pale Skin uses them a lot in her tutorials. This brush consists of a matte black handle and a short head with a flat top. The soft bristles are a blend of natural and synthetic fibres. The brush is perfect for applying my foundation, as it blends powder, liquid and cream products into my skin seamlessly. I also use it to contour and highlight. The size of the brush makes it perfect for popping into my handbag for applying my makeup on the go.
My second choice was the Inika Certified Organic Pure Primer. This ‘pure’ primer is made with 83% certified organic ingredients such as shea butter, aloe vera, avocado and macadamia oil. The primer is a white cream with the consistency and texture of a lightweight moisturiser. I’m not a fan of the scent but this fades once it’s applied. It doesn’t ‘blur’ my pores like Porefessional or Smashbox’s Photo Finish, but it does sink effortlessly into my skin, making it feel soft and hydrated. It also boosts the staying power of my makeup considerably and is gentle and nourishing to my skin.
My box also included a 35g bag of Urban Fruit Magnificent Mango, Good to Go Handy Trio of cleansing wipes and tissues (a festival must have!) and two sachets of Clippers organic tea in green tea and red fruits & berries.
The You Beauty Discovery Box retails for only £6.95 and is available here.
