Ere Perez* in an Australian owned company with a Mexican heritage. Their range of healthy, natural, high-quality make-up is now available at Naturisimo. The range is loaded with vitamins, natural organic oils, carefully selected premium quality ingredients and contains no perfume or chemicals. They also assist with protection from the sun and come in natural colour pigments to suit all skin types. Today I’ll be looking at their vanilla highlighter in ‘Falling Star’, pure rice powder blush in universal tone ‘My Blush’ and their natural almond oil mascara in black – which was the first product Ere used to start her lovely range back in 2004.
Each product is elegantly packaged in minimalist white plastic, giving a uniform and professional look to the collection whilst reflecting the pure ingredients that are contained inside. Each compact comes boxed and with a convenient mirror inside.
The collection contains a wide range of products including the Oat Milk Liquid Foundation, Beautiful Beetroot Lip & Cheek Tint, Rich Olive Oil Lipsticks and Clever Carrot Cheek & Lip Balm; all of which are 100% cruelty-free.
Ere Perez’s collection of Pure Rice Powders promise to be the perfect makeup solution for people with sensitive skin and blemishes. The Pure Rice Powder in ‘My Blush’ (£20/15g) is a ‘universal colour’ that claims to work with all skin tones to help reduce the appearance of tiredness and redness by harnessing the soothing properties of rice, which is a natural exfoliator and absorbs excess oil. The four main types of sensitivity are: acne, rosacea, burning/stinging and contact dermatitis (allergies and irritants, also including eczema). Many ingredients and chemicals in beauty products today can exacerbate the problem but the collection of Pure Rice Powders helps to reduce the inflammation sensitivity can cause by containing simple, natural, active ingredients that nourish each targeted area.
The super-fine pressed powder blends beautifully across the skin giving my face a warm glow. This blush gives the appearance of a subtle bronzer on my pale skin without creating any shine, just a healthy radiance to my complexion.
The Ere Perez Versatile Vanilla Highlighter in Falling Star (£17/11g) is a creamy swirl of shimmering pigment in a handy compact. The formula, made from olive oil, native Mexican Candelilla wax, cocoa butter, avocado oil and grape seed oil, melts at the fingertips and glides softly onto the cheekbones (or anywhere you want it) illuminating them subtly and naturally with minimum fuss or mess. This is my favourite product out of the three as it’s silvery undertones give a long-lasting subtle luminescence whilst not overpowering my look, plus the vanilla scent is heavenly. The highlighter is incredibly versatile as it can also be mixed with your favourite moisturiser to create a light face illuminator and an eyeshadow base to make eye colours pop.
The bronzer/blush is incredibly buildable depending on what look you’re wanting to achieve and your skin tone. The highlighter is perfect for paler skintones as it’s not too overpowering. The shade ‘Sun Halo’ is also available which contains golden based tones that is particularly great for olive and darker skin tones if you’re looking for a more sun-kissed glow effect.
When Ere Perez started her range of natural cosmetics in 2004, she started with one basic, must-have item: her Natural Almond Oil Mascara (£16.50/10ml). Today, 11 years on, this is still her best-selling product. Unlike other mascaras, Ere Perez formulas are made with oil and waxes, not water and alcohol, which is particularly good for people who have sensitive eyes and can’t wear chemical based or synthetic makeup. The mascara actually smells of almonds and doesn’t smear or flake throughout the day. The mascara gives a very subtle flutter, slightly lengthening and defining each lash. I personally prefer mascaras that add volume and create a more dramatic look. The wand is nothing special and I found the formula itself a little dry so I really had to work at building the mascara to create my desired coverage.
Many of you know I am an animal lover and currently expecting my first child. I think it’s a combination of these factors that has encouraged me to be a lot more conscious of what synthetic ingredients and chemicals I use on my body. I am also a lot more concerned about the detrimental effects my choice of skincare and cosmetic brands may be having on the planet and our furry friends, because of this I love discovering new natural, cruelty-free makeup brands and Ere Perez is one I am very impressed with. Although I found the mascara a little underwhelming considering it’s price, I have fell head-over-heels with their Pure Rice Powder and Vanilla Highlighter and have been wearing them almost every day since I received them, without my sensitive skin becoming irritated.
