I am seriously awful at applying liquid eyeliner; I end up with either a wonky line or huge over-the-top Amy Winehouse wings that make my eyes look tiny. There’s a lot of hype surrounding both Soap & Glory’s Supercat liner and the Kat Von D Tattoo liner so I decided to go for the more accessible and affordable of the two.
The Supercat liquid black eyeliner is a fine tipped pen that claims to be “foolproof”. Supercat retails for just £6 versus Tattoo Liners $19 price tag. This is the first ‘pen style’ liner I’ve ever purchased and I was really impressed with how precise it is. I’m not quite as quick as some beauty Vloggers such as Em at My Pale Skin and Laura Leth (they make it look so effortless and simple, don’t they?) but I am a lot quicker at perfecting my flicks and wings than I was with my messier brush applicators.
Supercat also comes in a “Fat Jumbo” version but this skinnier version is so buildable and precise you can easily create a whole range of looks without the need for a thicker tip. The tip itself is both firm and soft, so it holds its shape without dragging across the eye line.
I thought I was going to fall completely head-over-heels with this product however, there’s some element I find rather disappointing: the pigmentation and it’s longevity. I found myself having to go over my flicks and lines to deepen the shade and create more depth repeatedly. The lines I were creating just weren’t black enough and I found myself reapplying the liner throughout the day which is definitely not ideal. I do like Supercat and it has converted me to the pen-style applicator, however, I will continue my quest to find a more intense, dramatic shade that creates a bold line from the very first stroke.
Have you tried Soap & Glory’s Supercat liner or the Kat Von D Tattoo liner? What are your thoughts?
