NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Tea & Cookies | Review & Swatches

After several disastrous purchases from the NYX Lip Lingerie collection (review here), I had almost given up the search for the perfect non-cakey, non-cracking matte lip product. Now that NYX has officially hit the highstreets of Scotland with several stands in Boots across not just Glasgow, but now Edinburgh and Perth; never again will I have to relive the disappointment of misjudging dodgy online swatches and formulas. I picked up a few products during my recent trip to their shiny new Perth counter including the much-hyped Matte Finish Setting Spray, a couple of their Prismatic single eyeshadows, one of their Butter Lipsticks in a gorgeous berry shade (hello Autumn) and a Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick, my final attempt to get on board with this whole matte lip trend which, quite frankly, I’m tired of hearing about.

In my opinion, Tea and Cookies is one of the least ‘intimidating’ shades in the Liquid Suede collection. The range currently includes a striking selection of colours including Orange CountyAmethyst and Stone Fox. All very bold and beautiful, but perhaps not every day appropriate, but I guess it depends on your personal style. Tea & Cookies is a creamy, highly pigmented vintage rose shade…

The tube contains only 4ml of product which is slightly disappointing. The Soft Matte Lip Creams appear to be a lot smaller but contain double the product which is a little misleading. The product has a standard doe foot applicator and is available in 12 shades. I was so impressed with how this formula feels on the lips compared to other matte lip products I’ve tried. It’s almost more of a semi-matte finish; it’s waterproof, incredibly long lasting and sets but still feels velvety soft, creamy and comfortable, not at all chalky like the Lip Lingerie collection. It does sit in the cracks of the lips so a decent scrub is definitely required but if you have sensitive lips and are having a tough time finding a matte formula that doesn’t irritate or dry them out, I’d definitely recommend trying the NYX Liquid Suede collection; it’s just a pity that the variety of shades available is so limited.

The NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick collection retails at £6.50/4ml and is available to purchase here.
