Autumn is well and truly upon us and Yankee Candle has released four warming fragrances as part of their ‘Harvest Time’ collection along with some beautiful accessories to help celebrate. Did you catch my 20 Things to Do This Autumn post? So far, I’ve lost my Little Book of Hygge, missed the Starbucks Spice Latte and couldn’t find a pumpkin patch, I did, however, watch Hocus Pocus, buy a bottle of Ribena’s Winter Spice and start my Christmas shopping though. Number 19 on my list was to light as many cinnamon, clove and orange candles I could find, so let see what scent combinations Yankee Candle have come up with this season…
The collection consists of four new scents that capture a different aspect of Autumn: Ebony & Oak, Autumn Nights, Honey Clementine and Rhubarb Crumble. Each scent is available in a wax tart, tealight, sampler votive and small, medium or large jar for a limited time only.
Ebony & Oak
Top: Pine Bough & Eucalyptus
Mid: Ebony & Lavender
Base Oak, Cedarwood & Patchouli
I think this candle is supposed to represent a walk through the woods on a crisp Autumnal morning. I find that it has a delicate musky scent that’s unlike any other candle I own. It’s a fresh scent that makes my house smell cleaner but yet cosy, if that makes sense? I can’t detect any lavender, it must be very subtle which I’m happy about as I’m not its biggest fan, but the cedarwood and patchouli are definitely the strongest contenders.
Top: Orange Peel
This candle really packs a fruity punch! It reminds me of my Satsuma Body Butter from The Body Shop. It’s deliciously sweet and citrusy and definitely the strongest out of the four. It reminds me of the dried orange segments you find in festive potpourri.
Top: Bergamot, Grapefruit & Black Peppercorn
Mid: Lavender & Maple Leaf
Base: Vetiver & Oak
I love when Yankee Candle creates these mysterious scent combinations. I sat for ages trying to pin down the different notes inside this little jar, and didn’t get any of them right! This isn’t a fragrance I personally associate with ‘Autumn Nights’ (I think of toasted marshmallows and burning logs) but it is incredibly dreamy. It’s like Oak & Ebony but stronger and with a slightly sweeter twist.
Top: Apple & Rhubarb
Base: Brown Sugar & Vanilla
Sometimes candles make all these promises and get you excited but fail to deliver the true essence of home baking, not the Yankee Candle ‘food & spice’ varieties. There is no mistaking this scent. It’s rhubarb crumble perfectly captured into a tiny glass jar. I really can’t get over how realistic this smells, it’s definitely my favourite out of the four.
The Harvest Time collection has something for everyone whether you like sweet, fruity, fresh or musky scents. Each small jar candle has a burning time of 30-40 hours, retail for £8.99 each and are available from yankeecandle.co.uk.
