Disappointing Products | Soap & Glory Kick Into Neutral Palette

Every girl’s bath time favourite Soap & Glory recently celebrated 10 years of formulating fun, fearlessly world-class products with the launch of the Sweet Ten-tation Gift Set and two eyeshadow palettes; The Ultimate Collection and Kick into Neutral. Famous for their signature pink packaging, tongue and cheek attitude and black and white bathing beauties, Soap & Glory are responsible for some iconic bath time treats including award-winning body butters, heavenly hand creams and scrumptious scrubs. Their makeup collection is equally impressive, with their Supercat Liquid Liner and Love at First Blush Shimmer Powder being two of my personal favourites.

Although it was probably the last thing I needed, I couldn’t resist picking up Kick into Neutral. I’m a total sucker for a neutral-toned palettes and the shades just looked too pretty and wearable to leave behind, plus, I was intrigued by their ‘no flake, no fade, no crease’ promise and their so-called ‘effortlessly blendable’ formula. Kick into Neutral includes ten beautiful matte and frosted shades, a small double-ended brush and mirror all packaged in a super slim cardboard palette with magnetic fastening.

To be completely honest, I found this palette incredibly underwhelming. The eyeshadows are very powdery and apply with a lot of fallout. The shades aren’t as pigmented as I’d like and fade throughout the day, even with my Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer underneath. The eyeshadows seem to fade into each other once blended leaving a smokey taupe shade with very little definition.

Fairy Light isn’t pigmented enough to work as a base or to highlight the inner corner of my eye, Bright Spark and Pink-a-Little swatch nicely with my finger but don’t translate onto the eye, Spookstar is patchy and Cuddly Bear requires a lot of work to get any colour payoff. I really don’t find myself dipping into this very often. There’s very little I like about it apart from the cute shade names. I’m afraid it joins the likes of the NYX Dreamcatcher and Maybelline ‘The Blushed Nudes’ palette in my disappointing drugstore collection.
