Essence | Shine, Shine, Shine Wet Look Lipgloss in Runway, Your Way & Red Carpet Scarlet

As much as I love the idea of the matte lip trend, my lips do not. Matte formulas (with the exception of the KVD Everlasting Lipsticks) tend to suck the life out of my poor lips, either making them look or feel thirsty, irritated and shrivelled. That’s why I was delighted to receive two shades from the new Essence Shine, Shine, Shine Wet Look Lipgloss collection. Essence is a beauty brand I am relatively new to but have fallen head-over-heels with. Did you check out my recent haul from Wilko featuring their matte setting spray, satin blushes, Face & Eye palette and their mascaras? Prices start at only £1! If not, you can read all about it here.

I was sent the shades Runway, Your Way (12) and Red Carpet Scarlet (13), both contain 5ml of product, come with a standard doe-foot applicator and retail for only £2 each. I’ll be honest, these are not shades I probably would have picked myself. I would have chosen one of their dusky pink shades but it’s nice to step out of your comfort zone once and a while. The first thing I noticed about these lipglosses was their fragrance, they smell exactly like the raspberry sauce that gets drizzled all over ice cream. This is both a pro and a con; they smell absolutely delicious, but I keep licking them off my lips!

Both shades can be built up depending on the intensity you’re looking for. The red is slightly more opaque than the purple but both are incredibly glossy and instantly make your lips look fuller. Like most lipglosses they are transferrable but I can forgive this as they feel so comfortable and nourishing. What I love most about the formula is that it isn’t sticky in the slightest. They remind me of their Prettifying Lip Oil that I reviewed a few weeks back.

Even though I don’t think these shades are very flattering on me personally, I’m so impressed with the formula that I’ll definitely be adding a few more shades from the Shine, Shine, Shine Wet Look Lipgloss collection to my basket next time I head over to Wilkos.
