This month’s Degustabox theme is my favourite one yet. Although it’s not quite picnic weather yet in poor auld Scotland (when is it ever?) this little box of happiness is sure to brighten up your day, despite the drizzle. April’s box included some weird and wonderful flavour combinations such as quinoa, smoked tea & vanilla chocolate, chilli and toffee flavoured peanuts and pink grapefruit tonic water. This month Degusatbox are taking it back to basics and stocking your cupboards with wholesome treats from well-established brands that the whole family will enjoy.
If you’re a regular reader you may want to skip this next bit and scroll down to discover all the delicious goodies in May’s box. If not, here’s some info about Degustabox. Basically, it’s a surprise monthly food box that contains a mix of newly released and innovative food products delivered straight to your door for only £12.99, that includes delivery. Payment is collected on the 11th of each month, however, there is no commitment, if you decide to cancel just let Degustabox know before the 9th. I also have a discount code – 2RS8F – which gets first-time subscribers £7 off their first box.
Let’s start with my three favourite products from this month’s selection. I have a notoriously sweet tooth, so I wasted no time at all getting stuck into this scrumptious selection of sugary treats. Candy Kittens is an innovative gourmet sweet brand that was founded by Made in Chelsea’s Jaime Laing back in 2002. Candy Kittens uses the best possible natural ingredients and authentic flavours to breath new life into old-school British confectionary. I received this beautifully packaged full-sized bag of juicy Sour Blueberries (£3). Other flavours include Eton Mess, Sweet Pineapple and Sour Watermelon.
Keeping with the sweet theme, I also received this massive (278g) bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk Peanut Caramel Crisp (£3.49) and a few bags of my childhood favourite, Millions! What can I say about the chocolate? One word pretty much sums it up – heavenly! As for the Millions, it was like a blast from the past. I received three bags from two of their new fabulous flavours: Chocolate Covered Strawberry Millions (50p each) and Sour Strawberry Millions (60p each).
Moving on to something a little healthier we have a bag of Hippeas In Herbs We Trust (£1.50); a new range of chickpea puffs, Portlebay Popcorn (79p); hand popped from Devon and made using only 100% natural ingredients and Cereal Lovers Crunch Time Nuggets (£1.59); bite-sized snacking granola. That’s what I love about Degustabox, it has something for everyone. As soon as it arrives I like to organise it into piles depending on my friends and families preferences, although usually, my husband steals everything to share around the office. Apparently, his work mates love Degustabox as much as I do, however, I don’t think that I’ll be parting with any products this month. Sorry guys!
This month’s box actually came with a fresh item, which is unusual as they normally just include vouchers to use for products like this. Each Deli Kitchen Skinni Wrap (£1.25) in this pack of six contains only 91 calories and features an ‘easy to wrap’ design. Each wrap is soft and delicious and can be frozen to enjoy later. The final two food products are food cupboard favourites: a full-size box of Homepride Strong White Bread Flour (£1.50) and MOMA Gluten Free Raspberry & Coconut Bircher Muesli (£3.20). May’s box also features a fresh and fruity low-calorie sparkling drink from Zeo Soft Drinks (£1.19) which contains natural fruit juices, exotic botanicals and a splash of spring water.
There are two versions of this month’s box, one which contains a bottle of Crabbie’s Organic Alcoholic Ginger Beer (£1.89); the UK’s No 1 selling ginger beer, and a non-alcoholic version containing a box of Bean Bags (£4.50); an innovative new pyramid coffee bag set to revolutionise the filter coffee market. I absolutely love these! Why has no one thought of this before? Bean Bags deliver one-cup 100% Arabica coffee with no fuss and mess, and let me tell you the result is delicious!
