During my most recent Wilko haul, I repurchased a few of my favourite Essence products, including their Camouflage Concealer and All About Matte Powder (can’t recommend highly enough), and came across the Kiss Light Reflecting Facial Primer for only £3. I’ve never tried this brand before but I’m pretty sure they are exclusive to Wilko. The range also includes lip scrubs, colour changing lipsticks and an advent calendar all under £5. I’m pretty sure I first heard about this primer from Jemma at Dorkface, unfortunately, I can’t find the original post, but nevertheless please check out her blog; it’s beyond beautiful and she’s absolutely lovely.
The pink tube contains 50ml and comes with a thin nozzle which disperses a small amount of product. You definitely need to give this a good shake before using it for the first time as mine had separated and was a little watery, but a good mix sorted this right out. The primer contains Silica spheres to diffuse light and help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and conditioning Vitamin E, Apricot oil and Baobab oil to moisturise and soften skin. It has a clear, thick, gel-like formula with a velvety smooth texture similar to Photo Finish and Porefessional, or indeed any blurring and mattifying primer that contains dimethicone. Personally, I like to use a lighter priming product all over my face (I’m really enjoying the REN Perfect Canvas right now) and then use a pore-filling primer on my nose and chin to create an ultra smooth base for my makeup. This does the trick amazingly. If you have enlarged pores and are on a tight budget, I highly recommend giving this a go. I’m not sure why it describes itself as ‘light reflecting’ as it instantly mattifies and blurs all my imperfections. It leaves my skin feeling incredibly smooth and while it doesn’t quite help my makeup achieve the same longevity as Porefessional or my YSL Touche Eclat, it’s not far off and for only £3 I’d say that’s incredible value for money.
The Kiss Light Reflecting Facial Primer is available at Wilko and retails for only £3.
