Sorry for this late post but better late than never, right? I was out when my October Degustabox was delivered and I misplaced my little red slip so I completely forgot it was sitting in my garden shed! Good job there were no perishables. The literature inside was decorated with pumpkins and bats but I was a little disappointed by the lack of Halloween goodies inside, despite the fact I opened mine in November. As many of you know. Degustabox is a monthly food subscription box which is packed full of iconic brands as well as ones new to the market. Last month’s box featured products from Nestle, Mentos and Sam Miguel (you can choose to receive a box with or without alcohol) and my unboxing is available here.
Two of my favourite products the month were the Pechkeks Misfortune Cookies (£1.50) and Vimto Millions Gift Jar (£2.99). I love a mug of warm Vimto at this time of year (or whenever I have a cold) and these taste exactly like the drink. They are tangy and incredibly moreish. The fortune cookies have popped up before in a previous box so I’m going to save this packet and add them to my husband’s ‘bah-humbug’ themed Christmas stocking that I’ve been putting together. Each black cookie contains a hilariously blunt, brutally honest and twisted fortune that you’re sure to find hilarious.
Other sweet treats in October’s box included a pack of cookies from Michel et Augustin (£1.60) which were crammed full of chocolate chips and hazelnuts and also contained a melt in the middle fondant centre so, as you can imagine, they were pretty damn heavenly! The Nuttvia Breadsticks Snackpack (£1.70) were a blast from my past as I used to love finding these in my lunchbox. The tub contains crunchy breadsticks and delicious hazelnut spread with zero palm oil and 97% less sugar than other high street alternatives.
The Pip’s Real Hot Chocolate Co Real Hot Chocolate Coin in Orange (£1.50) is another adorable stocking filler. The Real Belgium Chocolate is hand moulded and wrapped into single servings (which can be purchased separately or as part of a monthly subscription service) and are available in over 12 flavours including Red Velvet, Hazelnut Praline and Raspberry. The final sweet product (this was the Halloween inspired box after all) is the Pulsin Kids’ Fruity Oat Bar in Orange Choc Chip (39p). The gluten-free bar contains real fruit and natural ingredients with less than a 1/3 less sugar than the average kids’ fruit snack and even count as 1 of their 5 a day.
My monthly Degustabox always contains a selection of convenience meals in an array of interesting flavour combinations which are great for stocking my cupboards over the colder months for a quick meal in minutes. October’s box contained a packet of Cous Cous with Mixed Vegetables (£2.29), Kabuto Noodles in Thai Green Chicken Curry (£1.99) and a tin of Heinz No Added Sugar Spaghetti Hoops (75p).
Subscribers also received two bottles of Feel Good Drinks Water Infusions (£1.20 each). Feel Good Drinks use only 100% natural ingredients and are made from a simple blend of water, fruit and flavourings which are crisp, refreshing and surprisingly flavourful. These are great for people like me who should drink way more water than they currently do.
The final products include a free sample of LoSalt, a healthier alternative to seasoning with 66% less sodium without compromising the taste, HIPPEAS Organic Chickpea Puffs (£2.29), light, crunchy crisp-like vegan-friendly snacks that Penny absolutly loved and a selection of sauces in classic Chinnese flavours from Lee Kum Kee (85p each).
Last month’s box was absolutely packed with products everyone in my household loved, however, the great thing about this time of year is that any meals or products that aren’t to your personal taste can be divided into food hampers. I love the randomness of Degustabox, it encourages me to try new flavours and ingredients that I wouldn’t normally choose myself.
Degustabox is a subscription service that retails for £12.99 a month, this includes delivery. Payment is collected on the 11th of each month, however, there is no commitment, if you decide to cancel just let Degustabox know before the 9th. I also have a discount code – 2RS8F – which gets first-time subscribers £7 off their first box. This means, all this could be yours for only £5.99. To find out more visit Degustabox.com.
