Can you believe that the big day is finally here? I’m sorry I’ve been a little quiet recently but with the working, shopping, planning, decorating, wrapping, cleaning and also putting aside time to actually enjoy the festivities with Penelope, there has been very little time to blog. Not to mention, thanks to the hours I work and the fact I live in not-so-sunny-Scotland, I very rarely see the sun and therefore struggle to take any photos that don’t require hours of editing. A skill which I’m not particularly a master of at the best of times. Long story short, my Degustabox* has literally just arrived, the baby is finally sleeping and I’ve actually managed to take some half decent photos (hooray) so let’s get stuck in…
Degustabox is a food subscription box that retails for £12.99 a month, this includes delivery. Each box is packed full of both well-known and innovative new brands and products as well as recipe cards and discount codes. Payment is collected on the 11th of each month, however, there is no commitment, if you decide to cancel just let Degustabox know before the 9th. I also have a discount code – 2RS8F – which gets first-time subscribers £7 off their first box. This means, all this could be yours for only £5.99. To find out more visit Degustabox.com. Last month’s box featured products from The Jelly Bean Factory, Cadbury and Taylors of Harrogate.
My favourite product of the month is this box of Willie’s Cacao Sea Salt Camel Black Pearls (£6.59). Each ‘pearl’ contains a shell of rich Peruvian dark chocolate with molten caramel made with Devon double cream and flakes of Cornish sea salt. I was originally going to give this box to someone for Christmas but that sentiment lasted about a whole 10 minutes before ripping off the cellophane and devouring each luxurious mouthful. This is artisan chocolate at its most indulgent. There are two varieties available this month: Sea Salt Caramel in Fruity Chulucanas 70 Dark Chocolate and Passionfruit Caramel in Rio Caribe 44 Milk Chocolate.
Another beautifully packaged product that immediately appealed to me is the Sleep Well Vanilla Milk Drink (£1.75). This vanilla drink contains Jersey milk with honey and valerian, a herb that’s been helping people destress and sleep for over 2000 years. Simply drink 30 minutes before bedtime, hot or cold, to help you relax and unwind. Other beverages this month include Coldpress Apple Juice (£1.50), San Miguel 0.0% (£3) and a full-sized bottle of Robinsons Fruit Creations in Peach and Raspberry (£1.99).
There are lots of delicious snacks included this month, perfect for munching on in front of the TV. To celebrate the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi Popchips have created Galactic Puffs (£1.99). It’s basically the same light and airy crisp-like snack we’ve come to love but now in fun Star Wars shapes and limited edition packaging. December’s box also contains two fun-sized packets of Planters Dried Fruit and Nut Energy Mix (£1.29), ‘Taking the Pea’ Savoury Pea Grab n’ Go Snack Pack (£1.50) and Candy Kittens Gourmet Sweets in Sour Watermelon (£3).
The final two products this month are a pack of Ryvita Lightly Salted Rye Cakes (£1.39) which are high in fibre and low in fat, and a bottle of zesty Lemon & Mustard Vinaigrette (£2.99) from the queen of the kitchen, Mary Berry. With a value of over £28 there’s no denying that this month’s box not only had a great range of products but is also incredible value for money.
