Apparently, as I scroll through my Twitter feed, ‘What I Got For Christmas’ type posts are a little controversial. Many think that ‘bragging’ about your Christmas haul is in poor taste and slightly spoilt. My opinion on the matter is; if you don’t like them… don’t read them. It’s that simple. I hope that this trend of bloggers berating other bloggers on Twitter will come to an end in 2018. Everyone seems to have an opinion on everything and everyone these days. Whilst I think having debates about issues like buying bots and followers on Instagram is important, nitpicking about whether someone like rose gold, marble and bath bombs is just petty. There seems to be a lot of negative vibes on Twitter recently and I’m on a mission to spread some positivity. I personally love these types of posts because I’m just plain nosey. If you are too – keep reading!
I was treated to some seriously beautiful makeup this year. I received not one but two iconic Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks in shades Rose and Bronze. I also unwrapped a customisable palette with two eyeshadows and two blushes, a mini Smokey Eye Mascara, High Shimmer Lipgloss, Perfectly Defined Gel Eyeliner and the limited edition Crazy for Colour Lip Palette. All these products were a complete surprise. I don’t have a lot experience with Bobbi Brown makeup but I’ve read countless reviews over the years singing the brand’s praises, so I can’t wait to play around with these.
I was so happy to open a box of my favourite perfume from Jimmy Choo as I was running dangerously low. I also received Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Foundation, a product I’ve been wanting to try for months. I really like Light Wonder but wanted something with a little more coverage. Have you tried this? Leave your thoughts in the comment box below.
It wouldn’t be Christmas without finding a few festive lush goodies in my stocking. The Magic of Christmas Bubble Wand used to be my all-time favourite Christmas Lush product, but I think they’ve changed it over the years. It smells sweeter and less spicey than is used to, however, I still can’t wait to soak in a hot bubble bath with a swirl of this as it still smells heavenly. I’ve never tried the other two products so I’m looking forward to many pamper nights in 2018.
One product I did ask for was the ‘The Night Owl’ Christmas Cracker from Marc Jacobs. The cracker contained a full-sized Velvet Noir Volume Mascara, Petite Highliner Gel Eye Crayon and the Petite Magic Marc’er Precision Pen Eyeliner. I don’t want to jinx anything yet but so far I adore this mascara. The final piece of makeup under my tree was the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita II. The formula of the KVD matte liquid lipsticks is the best I’ve ever tried. They don’t dry out my lips, they are insanely pigmented and are completely budge-proof.
I can always rely on new PJs, a mountain of sweeties and a Blu-ray for when the chaos of the big day is over and my food baby and I can collapse on the sofa. Despite some unsavoury casting issues towards the end, I loved Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them and I even got a beautifully illustrated hardback book to accompany it.
Finally, Penny and I received a copy of ‘Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls’ by Elena Favilli and Francesca Cavallo. The pages are crammed full of 100 short stories about the lives of remarkable women who have shaped history such as Amelia Earhart, Frida Kahlo, Ada Lovelace and Michelle Obama. The book is full of stunning illustrations from over 60 female artists across the world and contains stories about female astronauts, authors, investors and even pirates to inspire and empower little girls. I will dedicate a whole post to this remarkable book once we have finished it, although I highly recommend you check it out.
Thank you to all my lovely friends and family who utterly spoiled me this Christmas. I am truly lucky to have you in my life and I appreciate everything that you were incredibly lovely to have given me; every pressie, card and hug.
What did Santa bring you? As I mentioned before, I’m incredibly nosey so do let me know in the comments section below or leave a link to your Christmas haul post.
