Male Grooming Products My Husband Recommends

Over the past few years, I’ve been encouraging my husband to upgrade and add to his everyday grooming routine. Why? Out of sheer annoyance with his constant moaning about unmanageable hair, scratchy beard and dry hands but unwillingness to do anything about it. A few sprays of Lynx in the morning is not an effective grooming routine. It makes my eyes roll when I compare our shelves in the bathroom. Mines is so pink and girly and his is a sea of silver and black bottles containing words like “turbo”, “extreme” and “maximum strength”. Beauty is genderless. At the endof the day, we all want to look our best and feel confident about our appearance.

Male Grooming Products My Husband Recommends

Alpecin Caffeine Shampoo (£5.99/250ml)

Ever since using this shampoo Ross swears his hair feels thicker. To be completely honest, I’ve not noticed much of a difference but he swears when he runs his fingers through it, it feels fuller. He also sees a huge reduction in the amount of hair he was losing prior to using it.

Christian Breton SOS Eye Balm (£46/8g)

This is a product that was kindly sent to me I didn’t have much use for. After complaining about the prominent dark circles under his eyes I recommend that he give this ago and he’s been using it ever since. He applies this in the morning whilst putting on his contacts and he feels it makes him look more awake and fresh looking. The only issue he has with it is that if you don’t blend it in properly, you can be left with a blue tinge to your undereye area.

L’Oreal Men Expert Pure Power Charcoal Face Wash (£6.35/150ml)

Ross has been using this charcoal activated wash ever since I’ve known him. When I asked him why he said it’s because it makes his skin tight (not sure why this is a positive?!) and gets rid of spots. To be fair, his skin has been looking really clear recently. It’s also tingly and invigorating. This is also why he loves his Original Source Mint Shower Gel. It’s a shock to the system in the morning and helps him stay awake.

Kiehl’s Nourishing Beard Grooming Oil (£22/30ml)

Ross swears that this product actually encourages hair growth. He has a few thinner patches around his jawline and he relies on this to not only make his beard feel softer but make the hair growth look more even. It has a woody scent (a blend of Cedarwood, Sandalwood and Eucalyptus essential oils) and is incredibly lightweight. It helps his facial hair feel less course and more manageable.

Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve (£15/75ml)

I bought this for him a few weeks ago because his hands were really cracked, especially between his fingers. I think this was due to the temperature dropping and because he plays golf so often. He had tried a few hand creams in my collection prior to this but none made such a dramatic difference than the Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve. It’s thick but absorbs quickly without leaving any greasiness.

It was like trying to get blood out of a stone to find out why he actually uses these products. I literally should have written “I just like it” under every products name as that was his initial answer before I interrogated him. He also uses my Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream, if his skin is feeling super dry too.
