When any brand chooses to work with me and my little blog it makes me incredibly happy. My absolute favourite opportunities are the ones that include Penny too, even if it makes the whole process that bit more difficult! She’s not the most patient of models and, let’s face it if Penny doesn’t like the product she’s not about to hide that fact which can make for some interesting reviews! Thankfully, as you can tell from that wee smile below she absolutely adores the goodies Strictly Briks very kindly sent her…
Strictly Briks isn’t a brand I was familiar with but they have a huge selection of kits and accessories on Amazon and, compared to their competitors, they are very reasonably priced. Penny is very fortunate to have a wide selection of toys that come with all the bells and whistles. Most of her toys speak like her favourite TV characters, even move around the floor and sing songs in ridiculously high pitches, which I’m convinced are designed to send parents loopy. As much fun as new technology is for both children and adults, in my opinion, you can’t beat a basic building set. Why? There are no boundaries! They encourage children to create, imagine and explore in ways fancy gadgets and gizmos just don’t. Over the last few days, I’ve witnessed Penny simply build and destroy towers with her Strictly Briks, she’s also buried her toy animals underneath them and shouted “help!”, I’ve seen her pretend that they were cars and chase the poor cat around the living room with them, I’ve seen her count them out “one, two, six!” (she’s obsessed with the number six right now) and even cook them up in her play kitchen and serve me them up for lunch. Never underestimate the possibilities of a simple building brick.
The Strictly Briks 204 Piece Set (£24.99) contains 12 different coloured easy to grip bricks in three different sizes. We also received the Strictly Briks 15”x 15” Reversible Silicone Mat (£19.99) which has proved incredibly useful over the past few days. It’s made from soft water-resistant silicone that can be rolled up for easy storage, it even comes with a bag that Penny actually loves to tidy all her blocks in before bedtime. Result! It’s very light and perfect for travelling with. We especially like to use ours outside in the back garden as recently it’s been far too hot to be stuck inside all day. The mat is also compatible with all major large-size brands including Lego, Duplo and Mega Blocks.
It’s been wonderful to watch Penny use her imagination and actually think through her creations. Even when she gets frustrated and things don’t go to plan, she’s always learning and exploring new ways to build and create.
The entire Strickly Briks collection is now available at Amazon with prices starting at just £4.99.
