Let me start off by saying a huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to congratulate us on social media. Our little girl is finally here! It’s definitely beginning to hit home that we now have a 2-year-old and a newborn under the same roof. To say things are chaotic is putting things mildly. Thankfully, Penny loves her sleep and usually gets a full 12 hours uninterrupted. The baby hasn’t even woken her up yet! Unfortunately, Poppy wakes us up… a lot. She loves to be held and especially skin-to-skin contact, so when she wakes up in her Moses basket she’s less than thrilled and demands a cuddle. Trying to put her down so we can get a few hours kip before her next feed is pretty intense. Remember the boardgame Buckaroo? Anyway, as adorable as she is and as much as I love all the baby hugs I’ve been trying lots of different ways to comfort her and thankfully she’s been loving the Swaddle UP Original from Love To Dream available at Cheeky Rascals.
Penny used to love to be swaddled or, as we call it, being turned into a ‘baby burrito’. Poppy not so much. What makes Swaddle UP so different from your basic blanket swaddle is that it’s the first zip-up swaddle with patented wings. These allow Pops to sleep in a natural position with her arms up. She seems to find this way more comfortable and can sook the wings or rub them against her cheeks if need be to self-soothe. Pops loves to suck her thumb but she keeps scratching her face no matter how much I file her little nails so this is a brilliant alternative.
The Stage 1 Swaddle UP is designed for babies 7-13 Ibs (3.2-6 kg) or from birth until the baby shows signs of trying to roll. It replaces the need for loose blankets and the stretchy fabric consists of a single layer of breathable natural cotton which aids temperature regulation whilst providing that calming swaddled feeling. Traditional swaddling is a difficult trick to master; they may be tiny but those adorable wriggling limbs will resist at all costs, plus it can be detrimental to baby’s hip and pelvis development as they are fixed in one position for prolonged periods of time.
I love that the zipper not only allows for easy nappy changes but has a protective cover that prevents the zip from digging into their chin. Swaddle UP keeps Poppy all safe, snug and helps her to sleep longer in a natural position. Plus, she looks adorable in it!
The Swaddle UP Original from Love To Dream is available at Cheeky Rascals from £24.99.
