The Fantastic Firsts Collection from Little Tikes

Penny is now two-years-old and her little sister, Poppy, is five weeks. It’s safe to say I’ve been lucky enough to experience a lot of parenting ‘firsts’. Some firsts are pretty magical such as when Penny called me mummy for the first time, when her jelly legs took their very first steps after 19 long months of waiting and the first time she slept for 12 blissful hours. Poppy’s not had many yet, bless her, but the first time she clamped her tiny hand around my finger is a moment I’ll never forget. I’ll cherish these moments forever, however, there are firsts I wish I could forget like when Penny projectile vomited all over me or Poppy managed to poop through three layers of clothing. Ah, memories.

The Fantastic Firsts Collection from Little Tikes

The Fantastic Firsts range from Little Tikes uses light and sound to inspire babies and toddlers to reach those all-important milestones (the magical ones not the poopy ones). The colourful and interactive collection of toys and walkers are designed to support the development of motor skills and hand-eye coordination whilst providing endless hours of entertainment. Children are already curious little things that love to explore, the Fantastic Firsts range harnesses this enthusiasm and encourages them to become independent thinkers by challenging their inquisitive minds.

I recently reviewed the Fantastic Firsts 3-in-1 Activity Walker which Penny loved. She was also sent two other toys from the collection: the Fantastic Firsts Sleepy Stacker (£12.99) and Singing Sorter (£19.99). The Singing Sorter combines two classic toys in one – a shape sorter and a musical pull toy. It contains 5 easy-to-grasp blocks that encourage Penny to identify colours and shapes. This will be perfect for when Poppy is beginning to move around independently and is a fun way to help develop babies leg strength and coordination.

Although Penny will happily sit and play with both toys, she especially loves her colourful Sleepy Stackers. The concept is simple but this new twist on a classic nesting toy is lots of fun. The set contains three adorable characters with 9 sections which children can mix and match. Staking the characters makes these sleepyheads open their eyes and each one includes a rattling or crinkling sound.

Please excuse the fact that my baby girl looks like she was dragged through a hedge backwards. I took these photos after bath time which was probably not the best idea but you can’t fake the concentration and enjoyment on her face. I thought these toys would be too simple for her but she actually found them quite challenging. I love how adaptable these toys are. They are suitable for both a baby starting to grasp objects and a toddler whose starting to develop their vocabulary and identify different shapes, textures and colours.

The Fantastic Firsts collection features 14 marvellous toys suitable for ages 6 months to 3 years with prices starting at just £12.99. To explore the full range visit LittleTikes.co.uk.
