ColourPop | The Liquid Lipstick Edit

ColourPop is one of my favourite ‘drugstore’ makeup brands. It might not be the easiest to get your hands on over in the UK, however, the process really isn’t as difficult as you may think. People’s main concerns are usually about customs charges. Previously, international customers would have their packages detained at the post office where they’d have to pay an additional fee. The most I ever had to pay was just over £15. Now Colourpop adds the tax at the checkout, so there are no hidden fees and you know exactly what the deal is.

ColourPop | The Liquid Lipstick Edit

It’s been a while since I made an order, however, I recently purchased a Mystery Gift Bag which has reignited my love for the brand. Beware, once you’ve made your first ColourPop order it’s a slippery slope! ColourPop release an incredible amount of new products. They’re known on Trendmood (my source on up-to-date beauty news) as the makeup brand that never sleeps. Whilst I’m on the fence about their new bruch-inspired Zoella collaboration, there’s currently are a huge number of products I want to try. They have just released a new collection of loose pigments with Kathleenlights, liquid eyeliners, lip pencils and plumping lip glosses that I can’t wait to get my hands on. I also highly recommend you try their new mascara. You can read my review about it here. Today I’m taking a quick look back at my favourite ColourPop liquid lipsticks; expect a lot of nudes and dusky pinks.

ColourPop | The Liquid Lipstick Edit

Currently, ColourPop’s liquid lipsticks have five different finishes: matte, satin, blotted, metallic and glossy. They retail for $6 each, however, there are also limited-edition value bundles available too and don’t forget to search for promo codes before buying; there’s almost always one floating about online.

Ultra Matte Lip

“The boldest formula of our liquid lipsticks – in one smooth swipe, you’ll get intense color payoff that dries down to a super matte, transfer-proof finish”

When Kylie’s lip kits were first launched, people immediately compared them to ColourPop’s bestselling Ultra Matte Collection. These lipsticks are seriously pigmented. It’s like makeup porn swatching them as they are so opaque and bold. They dry down incredibly matte, however, they make my lips feel very uncomfortable, cling to dry patches and settle in lines. If you have flawless, juicy lips these really are stunning lipsticks but alas my lips are too sensitive to fully enjoy them.

Ultra Blotted Lip

“For that soft, diffused just-blotted look, our medium coverage liquid lipstick dries matte, doesn’t budge, and feels soft and comfy on the lips.”

I only have one blotted lipstick in my collection in the shade ‘Doozy’. This isn’t a range that really appealed to me but I received Doozy in my Mystery Bag and I have to say I’m really impressed. It’s a very pretty sheer shade that doesn’t transfer or dry out my lips. It’s perfect for everyday wear as it’s very soft and pretty but adds a delicate wash of colour.

Ultra Metallic Lip

“Our high-impact metalized liquid lipstick is long-wearing and pigmented while still being smooth and comfortable on the lips.”

I don’t own any liquid lipsticks from this range. I find metallic lips look stunning one other people but it’s a look I just can’t pull off. They make me feel too self-conscious which is why I never bothered picking any of these up. It’s definitely one of the lesser talked about formulas.

Ultra Satin Lip

“High pigmentation and a satin-matte finish in liquid lipstick form to keep your lips soft and comfy all day long”

My favourite formula! I really can’t recommend these lipsticks highly enough. These give me a semi-matte finish without drying out my lips and making them feel like they’re caked in product. They keep my lips feeling soft and nourished but still deliver all the coverage of the Ultra Matte collection.

Ultra Glossy Lip

“High shine gloss with full-coverage, metallic pearl finish in a moisturizing and non-sticky, comfortable formula”

Finally, the Ultra Glossy Lip collection is another one of my favourites. ColourPop’s lip glosses aren’t thick, gloppy and sticky. They feel more like an oil when applied and give a beautiful high-shine glossy finish. One of my more loved ColourPop products is ‘Fairy Floss’ a nude lipgloss that can be worn on its own or over your favourite lipstick. It gives lips a pretty wash of colour which makes them look fuller and juicier. I’ve repurchased several tubes over the years.

ColourPop also has a range of standard lipsticks which you can read more about here.
