Yummy mummies, Nadine & Sarah, started My 1st Photos* in early 2018. Sarah’s baby was born 9 weeks early and had to spend a month in Neonatal Intensive Care and the Special Care Baby Unit. She didn’t get to meet her for 4 days and then they had to leave her every night in an incubator. Her friend, Nadine, wanted to help by printing off some family photos which they could leave in the incubator, so their beautiful baby would always see their faces. This inspired them to create a wonderful collection of handmade keepsakes that can be personalised to help to keep families together when they’re apart.
I love the whole concept behind My 1st Photos. I have lots of special little keepsakes dotted around the house including memory boxes, personalised frames, photo albums and artwork, however, these gifts are created especially for little hands to play with. My 1st Photos have a number of gifts available including personalised fabric photo albums, bunting and cushions. I was very kindly sent their Photo comforter with Taggies. Instead of being propped up on a shelf gathering dust like most mementoes, this ridiculously soft bubble style baby comforter is designed to be scrunched, grabbed, sucked and cuddled.
Each comforter is handmade to order and is ready to ship up to 2 weeks after they receive your photo and text. I absolutely love Poppy’s comforter. It’s beautifully made and she’s constantly chewing and stroking it. I chose one of the first photos I have of Pops and Penny together. There’s not a massive age gap between them and I love the little bond they’ve already formed. When her big sister goes to nursery in a few months time, Poppy will always have her by her side.
The photo comforters are especially perfect if a family member lives far away or works overseas, or for when the child goes to nursery for the first time. No matter where they are, they can always have their family with them. My 1st Photos use 100% polyester fabric, felt and non-toxic ink. Their products are designed to be played with; they have no sharp edges or corners and are easy to clean. The whole process couldn’t be simpler and each comforter retails for just £15 with free UK shipping and is available to purchase here.
