Wedding season has officially kicked off and I have been invited to not one, but four weddings this spring/summer. I love a good wedding; having an ugly cry through the vows, the endless amount of cliches and cheesy ‘dad jokes’ throughout the speeches, the first dance, countless glasses of bubbly, kicking off my heels on the way to the dancefloor and, obviously, eating lots and lots of cake. There are also elements I don’t particularly look forward to such as encountering drunk relatives I’ve not talked to in years, trying to remember the step to various ceilidh dances, that 1 am taxi scramble and finding an outfit I actually like.
To some girls getting ready is the fun part but for me it usually consists of hating the outfit I bought weeks ago in advance, glueing my lids shut with lash glue, burning my ears on my straighteners and my toddler spilling something on me just as we’re about to leave the house. This year, I’m on a mission to make the whole process as stressfree as possible. Today I’m breaking down all my wedding guest outfit ideas, including dresses, makeup and beautiful rose gold accessories.

In typical blogger fashion, I’m drawn to anything that’s rose gold. I think the colour is incredibly romantic and dreamy, and therefore the perfect colour to wear to a wedding. Everyone knows I adore Charlotte Tilbury so whenever I’m going to an event, I tend to break out the ‘good’ makeup so typically you’ll find me wearing my favourite products from her Pillow Talk collection, plus a thick layer of setting spray to keep it all in place. As for accessories, this beautiful circle necklace is very pretty and delicate. It adds a touch of elegance to your outfit and the unique design is eye-catching, but not so much that detracts from your outfit. I personally like my jewellery dainty and feminine, however, I have also been drawn to geometric designs recently.
As for shoes and bags, for a wedding, I like them to complement my outfit and often add a little sparkle, but ultimately be practical. Weddings can go on for hours so I always opt for a shoe with a platform (because I’m short and need a heel but can’t walk in them for toffee) and a stylish bag that’s small enough to not weigh me down, however big enough for my lippy, phone and perfume.
I usually shop on the high street for my regular clothes but when it comes to weddings I try to shop places a little more off the gird to avoid turning up in the same dress as someone else. Joanie has a gorgeous collection of both vintage-inspired and sparkly party dresses; so you’re bound to find something to suit your personal style and shape.
What do you look for in a wedding outfit? Do you prefer vintage and adorable or glam and chic?
