It’s been a long time since I last subscribed to Glossybox (May 2015 was my last box to be exact), however, I couldn’t resist picking up their special edition birthday box. Not only is the glittery pink packaging beautiful, inside is a Huda Beauty Lip Strobe worth £17 available in four shades: Angelic, Ritzy, Boujee or Fearless. The best part? You can use code BIRTHDAY to get 20% off, so I’d say this box is a bit of a bargain.
I have to admit, although I unsubscribed because, after years of receiving my monthly box, I found that they were becoming repetitive and underwhelming, I did, however, get a bit over-excited as soon as I received a text from Royal Mail to say it was delivered. There’s something about knowing that there’s a mystery box waiting for you at home full of skincare and makeup goodies that definitely adds a little skip to your step. Glossybox is a monthly beauty box and I opted for their super flexible monthly plan. I pay £10 a month + £3.25 P&P and to cancel I just need to update my subscription status by the 14th to ensure I don’t pay for and receive next month’s box.
I do love boxes from Latest in Beauty as you get to build your own and determine which products you’d like to try (the QVC Tili box is another one of my favourites), however, it is exciting not knowing what to expect and discovering new brands along the way… that is, if the brands included are not a complete let down! Although I’m happy with this month’s box, I have to admit, I was disappointed when I initially picked it up; I love it when my boxes feel heavy and full of goodies! In terms of packaging, I think Glossybox blows its competitors out of the water. The pretty millennial pink box, the white ribbon tying everything together, the tissue paper, silver shredded paper packing everything in, the theme and even the booklet inside are all so well thought out and put together.
As I already mentioned, this birthday box included a beautiful full-sized metallic lip gloss from Huda Beauty worth £17 as well as a pair of rose gold lash curlers, a full-sized felt tip liner from Bang Beauty (a brand I’m not familiar with) and two deluxe minis of Imperial Leather’s new Foamburst Ultimate Moisture in Golden Amber & Coconut Oil and, finally, one sachet of Eye Therapy under-eye masks from BeautyPro.
It’s obviously all about your preference, but I was really impressed with this month’s box. I’ve wanted to try Huda’s lip products for months but never got around to it, I have lost my eyelash curlers a few months and this pair is super cute (what kind of blogger would I be if I didn’t drool over rose gold?), I’ve always wanted to try undereye masks plus my last Kat Von D eyeliner just dried up and I was needing a replacement. The Foamburst isn’t the most exciting product to be included in a celebratory birthday box, but I’ll 100% make good use out of it that’s for sure. Is this box absolutely packed with products? No. But it is worth around £50, so considering I managed to grab this box for only £8 plus P&P I’m pretty happy with my bundle of goodies. Will I stay subscribed? Yes, for now anyway. I’m definitely going to give September’s box a try. Let’s hope I’m just as lucky with my next box…
Don’t forget, use code BIRTHDAY to get 20% off your first box.
