I was recently sent the cutest pizza-themed eyeshadow palette from Revolution’s Tasty Collection. You probably don’t need me to tell you how bright, colourful and playful the packaging is; it instantly reminds me of an emoji that would be plastered across someone’s Instagram story. The sunshine yellow palette comes in a pizza box and has a rubber pizza slice embossed on top as well as shade names inspired by various toppings. They’ve definitely taken the theme and ran with it! I have to admit, I was a little surprised that this palette retails for £10, which is the same price as my favourite, the original Soph X Revolution Eyeshadow Palette. It’s undoubtedly a fun concept (there’s also a Chilli and Avocado palette in the Tasty collection too) but it is on the gimmicky side and aimed at a younger demographic, so I did think that £10 was a little steep considering the Re-Loaded palettes retail for £4. However, as soon as I swatched and played around with it I was shocked…
The Tasty Pizza Shadow Palette contains 18 shades (8 mattes and 10 shimmers) and a full-sized mirror. The packaging might not take itself seriously but, damn, the formula definitely does! I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting such high quality from a cutesy looking palette but it has really impressed me. The mattes (with the exception of Pepperoni and Hawaiian) don’t blow you away when first swatched. They need to be layered several times but they are incredibly smooth and blend very easily. Although there is a lot of fallout, the colour payoff of Pepperoni (firey red) and Hawaiian (mustard yellow) is insane and they are the stand out shades of the palette. The shimmers are very impressive and even remind me of several of my Super Shock Shadows from ColourPop as they are so intense, and that’s before wetting your brush.
I took advantage of the beautiful weather and took photos of my arms swatches outside in the garden so you can really see how gorgeously creamy and even the metallic shades are. They have an intense sparkle which is beautiful when the light hits off them. 10 shimmers is a lot for one palette and it could have probably done with a few more mattes, but it’s hard to complain when they are this pigmented and easy to work with. The Tasty Pizza Shadow Palette definitely surprised me as I was worried this collection was all about style over substance; this couldn’t be further from the truth. This palette packs a serious punch and the adorable packaging and whimsical theme are a fabulous added bonus.
