It took months for the e.l.f. Poreless Putty Primer to come back in stock after it became ‘Jeffree Star Approved’ over a year ago. The controversial beauty guru dubbed it a dupe of the iconic Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer, a product still not available in the UK. The Tatcha primer currently retails for $52 while the original e.l.f. Poreless Putty Primer retails for just $8. Now the hype has died down, you can find the Putty Primer in stock at Boots, Superdrug and their official website. There are now three versions available: the original, matte and luminous.
The original, in universal sheer, is a peachy coloured balm infused with Squalane which helps to grip makeup and protect skin from moisture loss. You scoop up a little on your fingertips (a little plastic scoop would definitely come in handy), smooth it over your skin and let it set for 30 seconds leaving your skin with a velvety soft finish. It’s a dimethicone based primer so has a similar feeling to Photo Finish and Porefessional but not as thick and oily. It smooths over pores, dry patches and fine lines, creating an even canvas and fantastic base for applying makeup.
It’s perfect for smoothing over and blurring the visible pores on my nose whilst evening out the texture on my chin. I used to have bad breakouts when I was a teenager and have been left with indents and slightly bumpy texture. The Putty Primer really helps to get the most out of my foundation. It applies more smoothly, evenly and extends it’s wear time. The primer can also be also worn without makeup. It’s great for mattifying your forehead if you’re looking shiny and you’re in a rush. It also gives dry skin a little boost of moisture. It’s worth noting it has a slightly unpleasant fragrance but this disappears as soon as it’s applied. Oily skin types only need a tiny bit of product, otherwise, you can create a slippy finish which can be difficult to work with. Don’t overdo it and you should be fine!
The e.l.f. Poreless Putty Primer in Universal Sheer retails for £8 and available to purchase at the official website here.1
